By Saturday morning it was time to figure out what type of room we wanted to frame out for our new laundry room. We had pulled out all the old odd cabinets that were back in the corner, and need to build up a wall to run the new plumbing up in to. I was so excited for a real room to function as a laundry room! We had to figure where the washer and dry was going to sit. Our one road block was our crawl space opening. The opening is against the back far east wall. I had planned on the units going against the north wall but, was informed it wouldn't fit. With the smarts and help of Johns buddy Derek and his Dad Vic who came to lending and extra helping hand. They figured out the perfect design and set up for our new laundry room. Here is the new bones our new room.
After all the wonderful work that was able to get done on Saturday. Monday was dedicated to getting the floor completed. We had discovered Saturday when measuring for placement of light switch boxes that we had not anticipated that there was not a thick frame around our back door that we had counted on when my brother designed our kitchen. We were short 2 and 1/2 inches. I personally was not disappointed that the only solution was taking out our old door and replacing it with a new, smaller one. Our old back sliding door was original to the home, along with all the other windows and doors that we had already replaced. The old melt framed door and windows are terrible to energy efficiency, and even worse on your wallet. Thankfully we were able to get a smaller french door! I love the look!~
Monday night John and I stayed up till 2am laying down the backer board. Braxton was so interested in what we were doing. He would grab the nearest tool, sit right next his daddy, and do exactly what John would do! It was so adorable how he wants to be like his daddy.
