John and I have finally started to improve the curb appeal of the front of our home. We have started to put a small retaining wall up to create a plant bed where I will hopefully succeed at planting flowers and plants that look good together(cross my fingers). But the best part of this post is not that we have finally started to do this but how long it actually took for us to get started on the day we decide to do this particular project.
John's truck through the week had been making weird noises and we were both nerves about driving it. We had decided at about 10am that morning as we walked through home depot what kind of blocks we wanted to frame out the new plant bed. We had spent a good portion of the morning into the afternoon digging a small trentch path that mapped out where to place the blocks. Our only options for getting the blocks from the store to our house were to either call Justin, John's older brother and use his truck, or fix John's truck. We opted to try the to first of the two options hoping to avoid the mess of working on the truck in our drive way or risk having to tow the truck to John's work. We called, and called, and even went to find his brother, but to avail, we could not find him. So as the day got later we got brave and asked our neighbor to barrow his small trailer, but only to find that the trailer would be to low to the ground for our car to pull.
Our neighboor asked john if he could listen to the bad sound the truck was making. John was very happy to let him listen. He knew that any help from someone else who has fixed and handled this kind of vehicle could be beneficial to him. Our neighboor made a few suggestions which drove john into mechanic mode(this was exactly what I was trying to avoid all day). He actualy found the problem very quickly, and pulled that part of the engine apart to get to it. We ran to the store to get the part and rushed back to quickly replace it. By the time we got the truck up and running it was 7:30pm. John was still determined to atleast get the blocks bought and brought home that day. We loaded into both the car and truck(since the truck is too bouncy for my pregnant self) and headed off to the nearest home depot, only to find that they were out till tuesday. We had them check to two other locations in Utah Valley and they tracked down some at the Provo store. We rushed over there and found they had 68 blocks. We needed 112 but we were not leaving that store without those blocks. We loaded them up and got home just before we lost the last of daylight. We found it fun and some what relaxing to place the few blocks we had in the dim, cool light of night under the moon! The most important part was that we got that far with all the challenges that came in our way!
